I grew up progressing from slide rules to HP calculators to my children’s Texas Instruments models to solve mathematical equations. In this piece, pages from an old TI-57 manual, stitched marks, equations, circles, and a grid become an abstract tribute to calculation and memory.
TI 57, Addition is the second in a two-painting set of bold, gridded artworks using India ink, acrylic paint, machine and hand sewing, and collage papers.
