TITLE: The Spotting Scope.
SIZE: 18" x 24" on Ampersand Clayboard (1/4" deep).
MEDIUM: Acrylic, paper, and ink.
FRAME: Set in a natural maple wood floating frame and wired for hanging.
My family took a trip to Costa Rica and did some nature hikes in the old-growth forests. We hired local guides who were terrific at spotting animals in the trees. We would view them through a high-power spotting scope (similar to binoculars but with only one lens). I loved the circular micro-view through the scope and the unique vantage of seeing only a tiny glimpse within a larger world.
