This vase is made using a buff stoneware with the pinch and coil technique.
Inspirations from the natural world is where I turn when I am stuck on a piece.
This winter I brought Amaryllis into my home, and the delicate rim on the Picotee blossoms are echoed in this vase adding, ‘a look twice’ point of interest with a red-orange rim on an otherwise soft feathery form.
The piece is built from the bottom up- coil by coil. The outside of the piece is rippled, the effect of my thumb joining each coil to the one beneath it. On the inside of the pot, you can see the demarcation lines between each coil as the piece was constructed.
Each piece is unique and one of a kind.
Outside glaze is a pale peach, matte and gloss white, strokes of sky blue.
