This was the first Meditation I completed and it came together so naturally. It’s a very harmonious piece, balanced very well between the smoky blues and deep charcoal colors. I love that it feels like a picture of the same place taken on drastically different days- one a blustery windswept day, and the other a sun soaked seascape. Both are beautiful and teeming with energy, but not everyone may see that at first. It reminds us that no matter what’s going on in the world around us, we can create any mental climate we choose. Your head is your first home, and I believe it should be our top priority. Your physical home should mirror the environment you’re cultivating mentally.
These pieces are made using scraps of old paintings and materials I save. They’re pure play and experimentation for me- two of my biggest inspirations. I could tinker with them for hours, just like making doll clothes when I was little.
Among the brushstrokes and textures, there’s a quiet conversation between color and space, inviting stillness into your living space. I leave the canvas loose to display on magnetic poster hangers to encourage you to get up close and explore all facets of the experience. Art with themes of mindfulness and wellbeing can turn everyday moments into meditative reflections.
