Late Afternoon, Uptown frames a single window against a warm, weathered rust-orange wall, with a slab of clear sky-blue and a hard black shadow cutting diagonally across the lower corner. The palette and geometry continue the artist's ongoing exploration of the American built environment - architecture distilled into flat, sunlit planes, in the tradition of Edward Hopper's urban solitude and David Hockney's crisp California color blocking.

Painted in oil and cold wax on canvas, the surface carries a mottled, sun-worn texture that gives the rust and blue passages real depth up close, while the white-trimmed window and stark black shadow stay graphic and clean. The painting is presented in a hand-painted wood frame - weathered teal-blue with a distressed gold inner lip - that extends the work's aged, sun-bleached feeling right to its edge. At 10" x 8", it's an intimate study, like a single cropped view of a much larger building facade caught in late-afternoon light.

Part of an ongoing series examining gas stations, motels, walk-ups, and small-town storefronts, this piece turns an ordinary architectural corner into a quiet meditation on light, geometry, and the passage of time. It suits a mid-century modern interior, an urban loft, or any space that wants a shot of warm, sunlit color with real graphic punch.
