Cyanotype on watercolor paper10″ x 8″ on paper, surrounded with a white 14″ x 11″ acid-free mat board. Colorado Alpine Flower Two is an original cyanotype on archival watercolor paper. The flowers from my Colorado garden have turned into seed pods. The seeds exploded outward when I pressed the pods under glass during printing. I love the dynamic energy of these hundreds of little seeds in motion. Cyanotypes are one of photography's oldest printing processes. Its print's distinctive feature is its cyan blue shade, which results from its exposure to ultraviolet light. I used plants from my garden to block the UV rays and create unique, botanical silhouettes.

Kathy Ferguson's artworks are colorful abstracted landscapes that share her experiences and reactions to the natural world.

Kathy Ferguson creates colorful abstract landscapes that are richly layered, botanically inspired reactions to her experiences with nature. Using combinations of geometric and organic shapes, she creates imaginary worlds using paint, collage paper, and ink. Her colors are often bold and saturated alluding to environments more illusionary than authentic, places more commonly found in dreams than in reality.

Her paintings have been exhibited in galleries coast to coast, including the National Association of Women Artists Gallery in New York. Her work hangs in many collections, including the Plaza Hotel in New York, the Four Seasons Hotel in Houston, and the Belmond Grand Hotel Europe in St. Petersburg, Russia.

Kathy received her MFA from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco.
