Colorado Alpine Daisy is an original cyanotype on archival watercolor paper. These sweet little perennials grow in my Colorado high-alpine garden. I love them for the delicate white flowers that turn into hundreds of little seed pods at the season's end. I love the dynamic energy of these hundreds of little seeds as they explode out of their pods. I am drawn to their graceful movement in the breeze, the way they catch and reflect shifting light, and their role in providing food and habitat for wildlife.
Cyanotype is one of photography’s oldest printing processes, known for its distinctive cyan-blue color created through exposure to ultraviolet light. For this piece, I placed grasses from my garden directly onto the treated paper, where they blocked the UV rays and created delicate botanical silhouettes.
