Cyanotype on watercolor paper, 10″ x 8″, surrounded with white 14″ x 11″ acid-free mat board.
Alpine Flower One is an original cyanotype on archival watercolor paper. These hardy perennials grow in my Colorado high alpine garden. I love them both for their cone-shaped flowers that turn into hundreds of little seeds at the season's end. The deer hate them, so they don't eat them either, another plus.
Cyanotype is one of photography’s oldest printing processes, known for its distinctive cyan-blue color created through exposure to ultraviolet light. For this piece, I placed grasses from my garden directly onto the treated paper, where they blocked the UV rays and created delicate botanical silhouettes.
