Whispers of the Grove – Antique Openwork Panels is a pair of c.1880 antique Chinese carved openwork panels, each mounted on its own solid wood backplate with a 2 cm floating gap. The deep, dark antique wood absorbs light, while the intricate openwork carving creates a mesmerizing play of light and shadow that shifts across the wall throughout the day.
These are surviving architectural salvage fragments from a traditional timber-framed structure. Each panel is carved in the round — equally beautiful from both sides. The minor wear is not a flaw, but the fingerprint of time — a surface that cannot be replicated.
Dimensions: Each antique panel measures 63 cm W × 19.5 cm H; backplate 75 cm W × 30 cm H. Ready to hang with pre-installed hardware. Displayed together as a matching pair, or separately as complementary pieces.
