The Palm is a travertine and oak lounge table, longer and lower than a coffee table, scaled to sit in front of a sofa. It is built from two materials that warm to each other rather than compete, the travertine given the lead and the oak set quietly beneath.
Roman travertine is the stone of ancient Rome, formed in the mineral springs around Tivoli and used across the Colosseum and the colonnades of St Peter's Square. It carries a soft, creamy beige tone, its delicate linear veining and gently layered structure warmer and more understated than the marbles. The base answers in solid European oak, its honey-toned, open grain warming to the stone above so the travertine and oak settle into a single, considered pairing. Each top is cut from its own block, so no two of these travertine and oak lounge tables share the same figure.
The oak does the work of holding the travertine up. Two solid oak boards interlock at right angles into a cross-leg base, one passing cleanly through the other, the joinery left in full view as the piece's single gesture of craft. Stone meets wood with nothing worked in between them.
As a travertine and oak lounge table it settles a space rather than crowding it, at home in front of a sofa. Like every Lebanto piece, the Palm is made to order in Cantù, in the historic heart of Lombardy's furniture district, from a curated palette of full-slab stone, solid timber, and premium Italian glass.
