In creating this original piece, I sought to capture the essence of spring by the lake—the rejuvenation and tranquility that accompanies the season's blossoming. With each oil stroke, I infused the canvas with the vibrancy of nature's palette, allowing Impressionist influences to guide my hand. It's an ode to the serenity and fleeting beauty that surrounds us, meant to inspire and breathe new life into any space it inhabits. When you paint plein air, you have only about three hours to set up, paint the underpainting, then capture your fleeting impressions as the sun and shadows begin to change. It a wonderful, pressure and joy-filled spanse of time.

Catherine revels in finding unique, tantalizing ways to record the natural world.

Catherine's paintings are defined by the moment and place they are created. Whether reflecting a mood, a light source, or something so exquisite it had to be painted; her soul goes into each stroke, color choice, composition and execution. The dynamic is a fluidity of mixed and layered pigments allowed to flow unfettered. The paint may be directed with brushes, wedges or tools, with an underlying preconceived final vision guiding decision-making.

Painting provides a sense of peace and productivity that is unmatched. Catherine feels a profound reverence for nature and has a heightened sense of urgency driving her to engage people with nature through her work. She has immersed herself in gorgeous surroundings, finding a deep connection to the mountains, the waterfalls and skies. Catherine hikes to where she connects with the landscape, then paints plein air. Observations are taken back to the studio triggering a profound creative response. Catherine strives to elicit a positive, meditative response in the viewer, leaving them with positive feelings about the earth and its extraordinary beauty.
