The Koushi-Mon — Japanese Ceremonial Silk Table Runner, Lattice in Vermilion and Ivory - Linens & Bedding
Price £288
Koushi-mon. The lattice motif. The structural geometry of Japanese architecture and decorative arts — woven here in relief, accented in the kasuri tradition. The ground is dyed in shu-aka brick-red vermilion. Across it, the koushi lattice motif is rendered in relief weave, with structural lines of ivory and ochre punctuated by obsidian black intersections. The geometry inherits its discipline from the kasuri ikat tradition — every thread placed by precise calculation. The vermilion gives the composition its warmth. The lattice gives it its structure. A runner for a kitchen table in daily use, the lattice forgiving of crumbs and glasses and the quick lunch. The runner is lined in undyed silk to protect the face. No metal touches the visible silk. Renaras: Japanese ceremonial silk, reimagined for daily life. Each piece arrives with its own passport from the atelier — a small handmade record of the silk's first life and its transformation, signed and dated in Amsterdam.
