Description / Story:
This is the very first piece I ever made. 2018 was the year I left corporate America. I didn't know yet what I was moving toward — only that I needed something that fulfilled me. Something that was mine. A trip to San Diego brought it back. Fiber work in galleries, in restaurants, everywhere I turned. It took me straight to my paternal grandmother — her hands always moving, something always crocheting or knitting nearby. She had taught me a few knots when I was little, to keep the tomboy inside for a while. I went home and made the biggest piece I could imagine. Turned out I still remembered. The love still transpired. It became the altar for a styled photoshoot in the mountains of California — the photographer was Alyssa Keys — and later for a shoot at Sierra Water Gardens in Reno. That one was published in Bridal Musings and Aisle Planner. I felt elated. Like this was my calling.
