A bold red diptych featuring road steel plates, showcasing deep textures, scratches, and geometric contrasts between structured and raw elements.
This pair of images, while having nothing to do with the painting of the bus lanes, was the right color and shot during the same time period. These are the steel plates placed over holes in roadways while construction is in progress. They are one of my favorite subjects, always having engaging textures... scratches and discoloration. I will excitingly cross a road if I spy these plates. This set was painted red and made all the more rich by wonderful coarse macadam around and on top of the plates. This find was a treasure trove of texture and contrasts sharp edges with organic forms.
