The BOX-1, a teal floor lamp from Studio Josha's Box-Series by Dutch designer Josha Roymans, is a totem of upcycled cardboard - the first piece in the series, playful in silhouette and pointed in meaning.
Every Box-Series piece is built from the studio's own waste stream: empty cardboard boxes from BOL.com, Amazon and other couriers, collected over years of deliveries. Josha stacks the discarded, ready-made volumes until they match his original sketch, and packaging becomes structure. The series doubles as a commentary on over-consumption and the half-empty boxes that ship air around the world.
Inside, hand-gilded 24k gold leaf lines the surfaces, so the warmest light in the room comes from reclaimed material. The gold shifts with the daylight and glows deeply when lit, keeping the piece alive at every hour.
Suited to eclectic residential and boutique commercial interiors; 186cm tall and freestanding. One of one - this exact piece will never be made again.
