LOTUS is a large-scale organic textile wall sculpture inspired by natural forms and soft, flowing structures.

This sculptural fiber artwork explores balance, calm, and fluidity. Its composition is built around gentle, rounded shapes that create a sense of harmony and quiet movement, bringing a soft architectural presence into the interior.

Each piece is entirely handcrafted using layered fibers and a combination of natural materials, resulting in a rich tactile surface and a unique three-dimensional form. The biomorphic composition evokes natural growth, resembling organic forms found in nature — soft, irregular, and alive.

Art Born from the Sounds of the North Sea and Inspired by Ukrainian Heritage

On the shores of the North Sea, art is born that weaves together the depth of oceans and the warmth of Ukrainian traditions. This is the story of a woman who transformed the pain of loss into beauty and found inspiration in nature. This is my story.

I was born in Ukraine, where I grew up surrounded by the rich culture of my homeland. I always believed that art is a way to connect people with their inner harmony. But the war shattered my familiar world. Together with my son, I found myself far from home, on the shores of the North Sea in the Netherlands. It was here, among the cold winds and endless dunes, that I discovered a new source of strength.

One day, walking along the coast, I noticed how the sea brought in fragments of seaweed and coral, creating intricate patterns. In these shapes and colors, I saw the images I wanted to bring to life. It was then that I realized my knitting could become a tool to capture the magic of the underwater world. This was the beginning of the Anna Baranova contemporary art brand.

Art Inspired by Nature and Traditions
As I create my unique tapestries, I transport myself into the boundless world of oceans, filled with coral reefs, vibrant fish, and the mesmerizing shades of the sea. Every stitch and loop crafted by my hands seems to breathe life into the mysteries of the deep.

But my work is more than just a tribute to the beauty of nature. Ukrainian culture, deeply ingrained in me from childhood, has left a profound mark on my artistic style. “Just like in Ukrainian embroidery, my work is filled with symbols and meanings. They tell a story about the fragility of nature and the need to preserve it, just as we preserve our traditions.”

The colors and textures of my tapestries echo the natural palette of Ukraine: deep blues reminiscent of rivers and night skies, warm sandy and coral tones evoking summer steppes, and green accents recalling the forests of the Carpathian Mountains. This unique blend of the North Sea and Ukrainian land makes each tapestry one of a kind.

The Labor Behind the Beauty
Each tapestry requires not only inspiration but also immense effort. Creating one piece takes over a month of work and around 10 kilograms of multicolored yarn. Every detail, from the smallest corals to the flowing reefs, is handcrafted with love and meticulous attention to detail.

A Symbol of Resilience and Harmony
Today, my works adorn homes around the world, inspiring their owners and reminding them that even in the hardest moments, it is possible to find the strength to create beauty.

Every tapestry I made is more than just decoration. It is a symbol of resilience, love for nature, and art born from the heart.
