The client wanted a music bench sized for the keyboardist and asked that we come up with some artistic features to make it special for the music room. We sketched out the basic dimensional constraints and iterated with the client on style, colors, and different ideas for encoding some music references into the chair. We proposed an inlay design on the seat back representing the vibration of a string with the fundamental wave and the first two harmonics, then had to do some serious R&D to get that technique down. The back features satin-finished, stainless steel tubes that represent a major scale in their spacing (whole and half steps) and in their (wave)lengths, where for example an octave is a halving of wavelength. Since the front scale is smaller, that pattern is a minor scale. Excuse the pun!
Walnut, holly, stainless steel tubes, upholstery foam and fabric.

Category: accent chair

Price depends on wood and whether or not custom sizing is done.

Nothing but great things to say for Dzenitis Art and Engineering. We were looking for some small end tables and came across a local woodworking expert and decided to give it a try. We saw some examples of his work and were able to customize a table design to meet our requirements. John (the owner) provided several suggestion that helped us in our decision, and then it was a go. These tables came back above our expectations in all areas. The finish is of high quality, and the joints are very solid. We have several pieces of "Ethan Allen" and these are at that level and the prices are well matched to the quality. We are already planning our next piece that we want to get. - Great job, great interactions, and a great product in the end.

John built a custom chair for me for my music room. The experience was fantastic from start to finish. John listened to what I was hoping to achieve carefully, went through several design concepts with me, and then built an amazing and high quality chair. Would highly recommend!

John and I were co-workers way back when, ran into each other at the occasional conference after that, but hadn't been in recent contact. I got in touch with him after seeing his profile update on LinkedIn and admiring the Stefani wine cabinet at https://www.dzenitisartandengineering.com/portfolio/cabinets .

The design process was iterative - from Stefani to a library card catalog concept to a randomized garden look to a snub square tiling pattern. Good communication, no frustration whatsoever. I especially appreciated John's ability to use my like/dislike feedback to generate the next idea.

I can't say enough good things about working with DzAAE - and I'm delighted to have this functional art in my dining room.

I reached out to John and Beth at Dzenitis Art and Engineering to design and construct a custom wine rack, and they did a truly phenomenal job.

Each piece in the wine rack they built is an "einstein", a single shape which can tile a plane without repeating the pattern it creates. Nobody had built one of these before, let alone in a form to hold wine bottles and resist gravity, so John had to figure out how to do that from scratch. Not only did he work out how to build these pieces, he also developed techniques for making more than one (in the end, he delivered 20!) and making every one of them look beautiful and polished.

Throughout the process, John was an excellent communicator, checking in to see if his work matched what I had in mind. He gave me frequent updates on the timeline for the work and always delivered exactly on time.

I recommend Dzenitis in the highest terms to anyone who wants custom furniture or woodwork.
