I've had this moka pot for years. It's beaten up, slightly dented, and makes excellent coffee. The spider plant sits on my kitchen windowsill and refuses to die no matter how much I neglect it.
Painting metal is always interesting because you're really painting reflections and light more than the object itself. The moka pot kept catching different colors from around the room, and I had to decide which ones to keep and which ones to ignore.
The spider plant leaves were fun too. They droop in this specific way that's hard to get right without making them look dead instead of just... relaxed.
Basically this is my morning routine in paint form. ☕🌱

ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Catherine Hébert is a wildlife and animal artist based in Montreal, Canada. She has a background in visual effects and brings that same eye for detail and colour to every painting. Many of her pieces are inspired by real animals she's met. A crow on a hotel balcony in DC, a round pigeon in a Seoul subway station, a pheasant who keeps showing up in her sister's yard in Nova Scotia. She also paints live during her weekly Thursday evening livestream, where viewers hang out, chat, and sometimes even name the paintings!
