Melancholy Strokes began with the painted surface of a deeply significant oil painting belonging to the artist. Rather than looking at the composition as a whole, the work turns towards the physical substance of the painting itself - the accumulated pigment, gesture and emotion held within the canvas.
A fragment of its oil-painted surface was photographed at microscopic scale and artistically transformed into a new abstraction. The resulting work becomes an artwork born from another artwork, carrying its material history forward while opening a new space for reflection on memory, transformation and melancholy.
- Museum-quality giclée printing for exceptional detail and colour accuracy
- Archival-grade 340 gsm poly-cotton canvas with a refined matte-satin finish
- Scratch- and warp-resistant canvas designed for long-term durability
- Professionally stretched over a 3.5 cm-deep solid wood frame
- Made from sustainably sourced materials
- Optional solid wood floating frame available upon request, approximately 4 cm deep
- Floating-frame construction leaves a subtle gap around the canvas for a clean gallery-style presentation
- Pre-installed hanging hardware; ready to display
- Limited Edition: 10 items
