Part of the comprehensive exhibition at the prestigious Museo Franz Mayer in Mexico City, Manuel Alvarez Fuentes' design depicting the old city of Damascus was a harrowing foreshadow of what was to occur shortly after the presentation. The Syrian Civil War has ravaged this ancient city.

This rug is not only a celebration of the stories woven in this Silk Road crossroads, but also a manifestation of hope.
