“Hold back. Let it be simple. Let it breathe”. This is what I chanted while painting Mabel. Sometimes it’s easier to do more. To fill the entire canvas with color and texture. But I wanted Mabel to mimic the softness that I felt while walking around the pond of No. 21 and No. 20. I felt free. After being cooped up, it was a relief to get outside and have room to run, wander, and imagine. I wanted this painting to hang on its future collectors wall and remind you to appreciate the simplicity around and within you - remind you to breathe, remind you that there is room for you to run around, wander, imagine, and dream.
