A serene hand embroidered watercolor inspired by the quiet beauty ,of an open horizon. Soft layers of turquoise, lavender, violet and warm earth tones create a dreamlike landscape, while hand-stitched details add texture, depth and a subtle sculptural quality to the surface. Created with watercolor and hand-embroidery on cottton paper this contemporary mixed-media artwork combines paint and and textile techiniques in a delicate modern composition. Its calm palette and minimalist landscpe make it especially suited to contemporary, Japandi, mid century modern,and eclectic interiors. Original piece sold. Similar commissioned pieces are available upon request and caan be customized in size and color palette.

I reframe embroidery beyond tradition, bringing Mexican textile practices into contemporary art.

Laila Vázquez is a Mexican artist working at the intersection of painting and textile. Through
embroidered watercolor, she works directly on watercolor and amate paper, as well as stretched
surfaces, stitching into them to challenge the flatness of painting. Exploring materiality and
repetition, she positions embroidery between tradition and contemporary art, bridgin g contemporary
and ancestral practices rooted in the rich textile traditions of her country. Her work is currently sold in Carré d’Artistes galleries in Mexico City and Sedona, Arizona.
