HANDWOVEN TEXTILE ARTWORK
The Kintsugi 002 artwork is an exploration of structural resilience and the preservation of tension.
The work departs from traditional tapestry by integrating the weaving process directly into the architecture of the frame. By eliminating the removal of the piece from the loom, the fiber maintains its original integrity and tension — a permanent state of suspension that resists the natural relaxation of the medium.
The piece was constructed using sustainably sourced Oak, joined via traditional joinery techniques. The warp is recessed into hand-drilled apertures and hidden channels within the timber, allowing the fiber to emerge from the wood rather than being applied to it. This integration creates a singular, unified object where the support and the textile are inseparable.
Named after the Japanese philosophy of visible repair, the artwork seeks to elevate the "break" as a point of structural and aesthetic strength.
