The Holey Tower Candle Holder is a hand-carved wood and stone collectible object from the Melting Collection by Gabor Gobi — the tallest and most architecturally resolved candle holder in the series. Perforated openings break the Yakisugi-charred beam wood at intervals, throwing shifting pools of shadow as light passes through. White stone remnants at the base and crown lend the form the weight of found material.
Sourcing begins the process — salvaged beam wood, stone remnants, materials carrying evidence of prior existence. The wood is charred using Yakisugi, then sealed with natural oils and beeswax. Nothing synthetic enters the making. Cork lines the base.
The surface reads as fusion rather than assembly: near-black charred timber against pale stone. Light passes through the openings and shifts with the hour, the sealed beeswax holding a quiet, varied depth.
