◾ A stepped column in black and ivory
A hexagonal side table built as a tapered column, stepping in at the waist and flaring again toward the base, banded in horizontal stripes of hand cut bone against black. The top is a solid black hexagon with a stepped lip. Every stripe is cut, shaped and set by hand, then levelled and polished until bone and ground finish as one continuous surface.
Six faces means six times the difficulty. Each band has to meet its neighbour cleanly at every mitred corner, and the stripes have to line up across all six faces as the column steps in and back out. There is no way to shortcut that.
✦ What makes it work in a real room
The footprint is genuinely narrow, so it fits in the gap beside a sofa arm or between a chair and a wall where a round table would not.
The stepped column reads as a plinth, which means it works holding nothing at all as easily as it works holding a lamp.
Horizontal banding makes the piece look taller than it measures, useful in a room with low seating.

Small: 35 cm across x 50 cm high (13.8 x 19.7 in). Sofa height, fits a drink and a small stack of books.
Medium: 40 cm across x 55 cm high (15.7 x 21.6 in). Works as a bedside table or a lamp stand.
Large: 45 cm across x 60 cm high (17.7 x 23.6 in). Reads as a plinth or a sculptural column in its own right.
Width is measured across the widest points of the hexagon.
🪵 What it is made from
Buffalo bone, hand cut into individual bands and set into a solid hardwood carcass. The bone is a byproduct of the food industry. The black field is applied and hand polished flush with the bone so the whole surface finishes level.
Every band on this table was cut, mitred, placed and polished by a person. The pattern is built into the piece rather than printed onto it.

We manufacture directly. That means we control the pattern, the colour and the finish from the first cut to the final polish, and it means we can build this table in a size or colourway that does not exist in our catalogue yet.

Fully insured and crated for freight. Assembly is not required, the table arrives as one piece.

Bone is a natural material. Colour, grain and translucency vary from band to band, and small variations in the striping are the signature of hand work rather than a fault.
