A Nightstand Carved and Inlaid by Hand, One Piece of Bone at a Time

This lavender bone inlay nightstand brings centuries old Rajasthani craftsmanship into a modern bedroom or living space. Every scrolling vine and flower on its two drawer front is cut from bone and set into the wood by hand, then finished to a smooth, cool touch surface. No two pieces are ever identical.

The Craft

Bone inlay is one of India's oldest decorative furniture traditions, practiced by artisan families who cut, shape, and set individual bone pieces into hand carved channels in solid wood. It is slow, exacting work. A single nightstand front like this one can take an artisan several days to complete, from cutting the bone slivers to hand finishing the surface. We work directly with these artisan workshops to bring the craft to a global audience, so buying this piece supports traditional makers rather than a factory line.

Design Details

Soft dusty lavender lacquer base with intricate hand inlaid bone floral scrollwork
Two spacious drawers, each framed in a matching floral vine border
Sculpted bone flower drawer pulls
Rounded, bullnose corners for a soft, refined silhouette
Fully lined drawer interiors
Sits beautifully as a bedside table, chairside accent, or entryway piece

Styling Ideas

Place two side by side for a symmetrical bedside look, or use a single piece as a statement end table beside a sofa or armchair. The lavender colorway pairs especially well with warm brass accents, deep jewel tone velvets, and traditional or maximalist interiors, but reads just as well in a soft neutral room where it can stand out as the focal point.

Also Available In

This design is hand painted and inlaid to order in six additional colorways: forest green, navy blue, rust orange, mustard gold, blush coral, and wine burgundy. Message us if you would like a custom color built to match your space.

Care

Dust with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid direct sunlight and high humidity, which can affect the lacquer finish over time. Use coasters under items that hold moisture or heat.

Made to Order

Each piece is handmade to order by artisan in India.
