In 2019, a powerful tornado ripped through my Dallas neighborhood destroying everything in its path. Homes were literally reduced to splitters. Walking the neighborhood the next day was a deeply profound experience which sent me on a journey focused on the resiliency of the human spirit told first through a series of metal wall sculptures the first of which were constructed from neighborhood debris and now through a series of paintings that celebrate the natural world..

New Floral Inspired Series

I was raised just outside of New York City and pursued a fine arts degree at Skidmore College. While still attending college, I had the opportunity to intern with the celebrated feminist artist Miriam Schapiro and study with Dr. Harry Gaugh, a leading authority on the abstract expressionist painters. My experience with Schapiro and Dr. Gaugh would change the course of my work and continues to influence my sculpture and painting to this day. After graduating from Skidmore, I worked for the prestigious Barbara Gladstone Gallery in New York City.

Working in the SOHO New York art scene of the early 1980s, I was introduced to a huge group of up and coming artists including Jean-Michel Basquiat, Keith Haring, Cindy Sherman and Jenny Holtzer, all of whom showed in SOHO. However, my primary influences continue to be the abstract expressionist artists I was exposed to in college, under the guidance of Dr. Harry Gaugh.

In the mid-1980s I left the gallery and moved to Dallas, Texas and began to also focus on documentary filmmaking. In addition to my metal wall sculptures and large-format gestural abstract paintings, I have produced a variety of award- winning music television series including the documentary series, “The Texas Music Scene,” which continues to air throughout the country.
