The vase in this one is from my sister, Bleu Marie Pottery! She makes beautiful handmade ceramics, and this piece has been sitting in my studio for ages. I kept meaning to paint it, and finally got around to it.
I paired it with eucalyptus branches because I love how they look. Those blue-green leaves are so sculptural. Then I added kiwis in the foreground because the green tones all worked together, and I liked the mix of shapes.
Eucalyptus is surprisingly tricky to paint. The leaves twist and overlap in weird ways, and getting the silvery-blue color right without making it look fake took some experimenting.
(Also yes, I plugged my sister's pottery. She makes great stuff. 🏺)
A beautiful botanical still life for kitchens, dining rooms, or anyone who loves green.
ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Catherine Hébert is a wildlife and animal artist based in Montreal, Canada. She has a background in visual effects and brings that same eye for detail and colour to every painting. Many of her pieces are inspired by real animals she's met. A crow on a hotel balcony in DC, a round pigeon in a Seoul subway station, a pheasant who keeps showing up in her sister's yard in Nova Scotia. She also paints live during her weekly Thursday evening livestream, where viewers hang out, chat, and sometimes even name the paintings!
ABOUT THE PRINT:
Giclée printed on Epson Hot Press Bright White Fine Art Paper with dye-based archival inks designed to last. Also available framed in premium oak frames with tempered glass.
We work with giclée printing partners across Canada, the US and the UK for the highest possible quality and faster shipping.
Smaller prints ship flat in stiff cardboard envelopes. Larger prints ship in protective cardboard tubes.
Fine art prints can scratch with handling, so we recommend avoiding touching the printed surface.
