The vase in this one is from my sister, Bleu Marie Pottery! She makes beautiful handmade ceramics, and this piece has been sitting in my studio for ages. I kept meaning to paint it, and finally got around to it. I paired it with eucalyptus branches because I love how they look. Those blue-green leaves are so sculptural. Then I added kiwis in the foreground because the green tones all worked together, and I liked the mix of shapes. Eucalyptus is surprisingly tricky to paint. The leaves twist and overlap in weird ways, and getting the silvery-blue color right without making it look fake took some experimenting. (Also yes, I plugged my sister's pottery. She makes great stuff. 🏺)
