Enchanted is a large blue magical seascape painting with birds, rocks, waves and a distant island. It is 36x36x1.5 inches. The painting shows some House Martins arriving from across the ocean. Blue and turquoise waves are in rippling against the rocks and there is a hint of a broken veil - as if the birds are bursting out of one reality and into a slightly different on. The inspiration was a trip to Portugal where I spent some time happily watching these birds swooping around over the sea and cliffs whilst catching insects for their families in an ancient cliff top monastery. It was a magical place and I am happy I have expressed it as I have. Large semi-abstract landscape, seascape and wildlife original oil paintings (and prints - ask for a quote separately)

I am a UK-based artist creating large original expressive landscape paintings and fine art prints. They are inspired by birds, wildlife, nature, light and movement. My paintings combine semi-abstract techniques with a strong connection to real places, capturing the atmosphere of the British countryside and beyond. Each painting is designed to bring colour, energy and a sense of space into a home and is completely unique in style.
I often paint from memory as it better allows me to move beyond traditional realism and into magical realism using colour, texture and light to express the magic that is present in wild meadows, forests, seas and rivers. My technique is rooted in traditional oil painting and I build each piece with layers of glaze, texture, and intuitive, art nouveau like, brush stokes, letting the painting evolve organically just as nature herself does. Animals, pathways, and portals are recurring motifs in my painting’s, often as symbols of the mysteries that lie just beyond the visible. I am fascinated by the folklore and hidden stories woven into the countryside. I hope to inspire a deeper appreciation for the natural world and its wildlife and to encourage its protection as well as to provide a place for viewers to escape beyond the mundane and be more curious about the spiritual.
