This surrealist pop art portrait of a girl with wavy red hair is made on a mid tone brown craft paper.

Usually my artwork have deep evocative meanings,
offering a mirror of feelings to the person that watches it.
This urban pop art portrait is about feeling good, about being able to feel all of it.

Recently I had made 2 very exiting portraits with golden looking hair,
and now I wanted to find a way to make a small serie of these affordable artworks.
As usual, I couldn't stick to the first intention:
to stay with the same materials/colors.
I always have to try new options, my inquisitive nature doesn't allow repetition.

It's a pleasure to play around on paper, you can see that on the "making of" video that you can find when typing in my name in vimeo.
I am sure these good vibes will bright up anywhere these lovely little sisters will hang.

This portrait is made on paper of 21 x 28 cm, that's 8,2 x 11 inches,
with a space around the image so it's easy to mat ( = get a passapartout around) it.
Which makes it easy to get a fitting frame around it that will fit your wall perfectly.

It's signed with that little symbol that represents the first letters of my name and on the back you will find the full signature, year of making and the title.

I will send it in a reinforced envelope so that it will arrive to you in perfect state.
You will also get a certificate of authenticity plus free hugs and loads of good-karma points!

Jokes aside: I truly appreciate your support.

Bold figurative paintings that add an outspoken feminine touch to your space.

Monique van Steen is a dutch artist who lives and works in the beautiful of Barcelona, yet her paintings are found worldwide in private and public spaces.

In her early 20's she fell in love with the Spanish life-style. It's not only the passionate form of living life that captivated her,
yet also the mediterranean light that enhances the worldy colors and inspire her to paint with the vibrant colors her artworks are known from.

The inner feminine world fascinates her deeply.

She paints strong women, strong in their fierceness, strong in their hopes,
yet also strong in their sensuality, in their vulnerabilities and doubts… yet always theirselves.

Her style is aligned with that,
using a visual language that is easily understood: Urban pop art.

The flowing outlines speak a clear message and the vibrant colors add intensity to the personality of the depicted feelings.

The Modernist era, ever so present in Barcelona with the recurring natural and female features in the architecture and urban furniture are a traceable influence in her art,
enchanting the eyes and the heart of the viewer.
