Inspired by the Roman myth of Echo and Narcissus, this circular wall sculpture explores how repetition creates complex surface topography through radial aggregation. A base module duplicates around a central point with variations in height, rotation, and scale, creating undulating patterns that rise and fall like a mountainous landscape. Like Echo's voice fragmenting and returning, the repeated elements create rhythms that shift as light moves across the form, revealing new patterns throughout the day. Each sculpture is slip-cast, then finished with hand-mixed glazes that emphasize textural depth and invite touch.
The metallic black glaze transforms the surface into something closer to liquid than ceramic. High-sheen and deeply reflective, it shifts between black, bronze, and blue depending on the light, mirroring and distorting the surrounding environment. Where it pools in the recesses it deepens into shadow. Where it catches light it approaches mirror. The surface is never the same twice.
