The mosaic is called “Broken Heart”. The inspiration for this piece came from red stones and red smalti. The mosaic subtly resembles a heart that was once broken, though the wound is now healing, and the pain is slowly fading. Often, we hide our pain from the world, yet it continues to bleed within, much like these red stones.
White and pink stones evoke a feeling of calmness, lightness, and clarity, while red and burgundy tones evoke a different emotional spectrum: anxiety, anger, restlessness, impatience, and, quite unexpectedly, a sense of exhilaration and triumph. It is as if, through the touch of burgundy smalti or deep red stone - like droplets of blood - something deep and mystical awakens, giving a feeling of secret magic.
The piece has been exhibited twice in 2025. This mosaic is a part of the “Emotions and Feelings” series and reveals the importance of following the movement of feelings and emotions in art.
