Hand thrown porcelain one of a kind alien flower. Each piece is saggar fired. A saggar is a separate ceramic jar. This jar will hold the piece to be fired along with various combustible materials like wood chips, used coffee grounds, metal oxides and salts. The closed jar creates a micro environment within the kiln. This atmosphere in the jar stains the clay body with various colors. Each piece goes through a number of firings until the desired effect is achieved. It is then fired a last time with a glaze on the inside of the piece. Every firing changes the color and the final result is always unexpected!
