Lex Stobie is a furniture designer-maker whose skill and attention to detail sees him engaged on projects as diverse as designing and manufacturing the dining tables for one of Australia’s most exclusive restaurants to building the timber casework surrounding a rare Casavant Frères organ. The New-Zealand born, Adelaide-based artisan is committed to using locally sourced, eco-friendly timbers from which he crafts a clean, thoughtful collection with a Scandinavian sensibility and bespoke one-off pieces. With an approach that is grounded in a belief that innovation and ingenuity are achieved through communication, collaboration and exchange, Stobie works closely with his clients to ensure his pieces reflect the character and purpose for which they were intended while maintaining a quality and integrity unique to the handmade.
