Abstract expressionist paintings influenced by my ever changing natural surroundings
Elisa Gomez (b. 1986) is a multi-disciplined painter based in Salt Lake City, Utah, recognized for her landscape artwork seen through the lens of abstract expressionism.
Her upbringing in the scenic Wasatch Front mountain range has provided a lasting source of inspiration, with nature remaining a constant and fulfilling presence in her life.
After obtaining her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Utah in 2010, Gomez discovered her deep connection to abstraction. and continues to delve into this style, using color, texture, and layers to convey her personal narrative. Throughout her life, Gomez has resided in various locations across the Mountain West, gathering experiences and exploring new terrain.
Her artistic journey includes traveling across the country, living in a van, allowing her to gain fresh perspectives and experiment with different techniques, and painting in the outdoors. Gomez’s interpretation of abstraction expanded beyond the canvas when she began creating murals, varying in both size and style.
Dedicated to community engagement after receiving her Master’s degree in Arts Advocacy in 2020, she has participated in several artist residencies, including those at the Denver Art Museum and Breckenridge Creative Arts. She has also helped to support community events such as the Dia de Muertos Festival in Breckenridge and Living Traditions Festival in Salt Lake City. These opportunities have enabled her to continually interact with diverse audiences and share her art more broadly.
Elisa Gomez’s work is collected internationally and has been featured in several publications, such as House Beautiful and Architectural Digest.
