PLINTH Side Table by Donatas Zukauskas
A sculptural side table with the strong architectural presence of a pedestal and the tactile surface of raw stone. PLINTH recalls a solid base or riser — a form that grounds the space while remaining visually balanced and composed. Its proportions are refined; its surface is deliberately unresolved — raw, mineral, and expressive. Available in white, grey, and dark composite.
The material is developed through years of personal experimentation: recycled paper pulp and cardboard — the second life of wood — combined with organic cement, binders, and paint to produce a composite that looks like cast stone but behaves differently. It is lighter than real concrete, slightly elastic rather than brittle, and sealed for long-term indoor durability. Donatas calls it the third life of wood: a material given entirely new properties through process.
Rather than concealing the marks of making, PLINTH wears them as character. Natural irregularities and texture shifts across the surface are built into the design — imperfection as a way to create beauty.
Each piece is handmade and unique — minor variations in texture and form are intentional and part of the design. Made-to-order. Custom dimensions available on request. Trade pricing available. Ships internationally. Lead time 4–8 weeks.
Designed, crafted and built by Donatas Zukauskas — a Lithuanian sculptor and designer whose furniture sits at the intersection of brutalist materiality and quiet, considered form.
