PLINTH High by Donatas Zukauskas
A sculptural side table with a strong architectural presence and the visual weight of a column or pedestal. PLINTH High draws on the language of the plinth itself — the solid base upon which things of value are placed — and turns that logic on its head: here, the base is the object. Its proportions are refined and deliberate; its surface is raw, tactile, and inherently expressive. Available in white, grey, and dark composite finishes.
The material is developed through years of personal experimentation: recycled paper pulp and cardboard — the second life of wood — combined with organic cement, binders, and paint to produce a composite that looks like cast stone but behaves differently. It is lighter than real concrete, slightly elastic rather than brittle, and sealed for long-term indoor durability. Donatas calls it the third life of wood: a material given entirely new properties through process.
Rather than concealing the marks of making, PLINTH wears them as character. Surface irregularities and natural texture shifts are built into the design — imperfection as a way to create beauty.
