TITLE: WAVE MANDALA

DESCRIPTION OF SCULPTURE: Wave Mandalas are hand cut and carved solid wood wall sculptures. They work alone as a a single sculpture and make an impact as a grouping. Meant to hang in an indoor spaces. For outdoor spaces please select Custom order.

The Pacific Ocean is a living pulsing mandala of water, light, and life. My large scale Mandala wall sculptures capture the sense of being in or on the water here in Hawaii. These images come to me often after an Outrigger canoe paddling session watching the birds soar far above and being in the waves. I see these birds soaring high above the ocean when the storms are coming. The Hawaiian Frigate Bird, or Iwa bird, is a marvelous creature that survives in astonishingly extreme conditions. These sea birds don't have feathers that can get wet, but have evolved so that they are able to stay in flight for weeks sometimes months, riding air currents into massive clouds and storms. They are graceful, fierce, rascals who chase other birds to feed off their catches.

HOW THEY ARE MADE: Crafted from local solid slabs of tropical Hawaiian Hardwoods, each sculpture is singular in design and movement. My designs are drawn directly onto the solid wood slabs. Then each shape is cut by hand with a jig saw. The details are then sanded using hand grinders, power carvers, and other hand tools. Mirror glass is custom cut for each piece and mounted in the back. It is finished with semi-gloss polyurethane or lacquer. Please clean the wood with a beeswax/orange oil wood cleaner. The glass is best cleaned with rubbing alcohol and a microfiber cloth. paintings on Sculpted Wood Panels.

PLEASE NOTE: Each mandala will have variations in color, tone, detail. Unless specified, you will receive a set that is similar to these images.

INSTALLATION: They come ready to hang, installed with hanging wire or french cleat. Please ensure they are hung on or near studs to support the weight of each piece.

Custom sizes and designs are available upon request.

MIXED MEDIA SCULPTURE | Ethereal, Atmospheric, Lustrous Wall Sculpture

"The purpose of my art is to remind you of who you truly are through light, color, and presence."

As a mixed media artist, Nadia Fairlamb's artwork has been described as being alive, as if it were a living presence.

With over 30 years mastering sculptural ceramics, stained glass art, woodcrafting, painting and illustrating, she is now in her ethereal atmospheric transcendent era.

As a devotee in the yogic traditions and meditation, she leverages her years with studying transcendental dance light work with her guru. The current subject matter of her art infuses the essence of place, with specific spiritual states of being, creating a living installation of color and light.

Nadia received her BFA in sculptural ceramics and archaeology in Texas. Her art career began as an illustrator of archeological artifacts on archaeological digs, and then for scientific journal and cultural resource management publications.

Her creative focus shifted shifted from sculptural ceramics and glass to wood, now creating large scale mixed media wall sculpture installations.
