INSPIRATION.
Beauty, as history tells us, is both an ideal and an illusion—a fleeting image shaped by cultural longing and the weight of expectation. In my art, I unravel this ideal, exploring the fragile balance between the seen and unseen, the fractured and whole, and my abstract delicate flora is a testament to it.

My practice invites viewers to embrace subtle beauty, where flaws are not mistakes but echoes of truth. I find tremendous beauty in the fleeting, the imperfect, and the quiet transformations of nature. My work reflects a reverence for the transient—soft light through gray clouds, the rawness of watercolor bleeds, and the marks left behind by time.

Inspired by a sense of yūgen, I explore the elegance of what is unseen or incomplete, blending the fluidity of water with the slow unraveling of stories in each stroke.

Watercolor is my medium of choice because of its unpredictability: it flows, stains, and settles, like the tides of the ocean or the passing of seasons.

_____________________

As an artist, I am at the mercy of beauty and spirituality which I have come to recognize as twin sisters. They are the strongest influences and have become the biggest motivators in my daily life—like my morning coffee—they trigger my energy and allow it to flow freely. By learning from my experiences, I have become the unique author of what I know. And so I paint what I know.

I choose to work with specific water-based materials: watercolor, acrylic paint, or ink. The fluidity of my materials allows me to be spontaneous, with no plan or obligation other than to react to what is happening with this paper, that brush, this moment.

This intuitive process of painting helps me delve into intangible, hidden, heartfelt places—something akin to painting as prayer. The movement between the paint and me, hovering, is like dancing with the ghosts of every person and each thing that has ever mattered to me. When I paint I gather all my amulets and channel them into my art. What I feel in my heart becomes visible and tangible.
