"Unexpected Depth" invites quiet discovery — a layered field where rhythm and stillness meet. Acrylics, gesso, chalk, and charcoal form a surface alive with shifting marks and glimpses, like memories half-revealed.
Inspired by a Moroccan bowl brought home by the artist’s son, the painting carries echoes of arches, patterns, and hidden doors. Beneath this lies an older memory: childhood hours spent tracing faces and scenes within the rough plaster walls of a stairwell. Both influences merge into a painting that rewards slow looking — a place to lose and rediscover one’s own imagination.
