Traces of the Past was initially a large installation commissioned by Rosendahl A/S. The sculpture consisted of 28 tall ceramic columns, individually decorated with various imprints and patterns.
The sculpture bears reference to our sense of connectedness as people, be it with each other, or place of residence or something far bigger than that, the columns represent us as beings similar but with each with our own stories, scars and patterns.
The columns have previously been made up to 4m tall with a diameter of 7-10cm, each column is made of up several sections which then slot over a metal rod to hold them in place.
The columns are made in red, black and white stoneware clay, and due to the highfired clay, can be placed indoors as well as outdoors.
