Created for the first episode of Materia Mensa, in collaboration with Chef Maria Jekova, this 24–26 cm plate is shaped from traditional Bulgarian red clay – the same earth that nourishes the Rhodope landscape.
Its glazed interior evokes water in motion – depth, reflection, the reflective surface of mountain streams. The exterior remains unglazed, preserving the raw tactility of clay and grounding the piece in material honesty. Each plate is unique.
Designed specifically for the Balkan trout featured in Episode 1, this plate is not a neutral surface but an active participant in the dish – bridging earth, water, and cuisine.
The piece appears in Materia Mensa, Episode 1: Primal Tastes of the Rhodopes.
High-fired ceramic. Dishwasher safe. Diameter: 24–26 cm.
Made to order in our studio in Sofia for restaurants, hotels and cafés. Minimum order: 8 pieces per item. Send us an inquiry with your project and quantities for timing and a quote. Price shown is per piece.
