My work moves between two modes: place-based architectural paintings, and a geometric series drawn from the color-block language of the New York School and Paul Klee. This piece belongs to the second. Muted sage, warm ochre, rust, black and white are built up in layered blocks that shift in scale and weight across the canvas.
The pine frame was made by hand to a design by my partner, Kim. The canvas sits slightly raised above the face of the frame, so the painted edges stay visible on all four sides and the color carries around the depth of the stretcher.
The painting is about structure, proportion and color rather than a subject. It gives a room a quiet, grounding presence without competing with what’s around it.
Amber Fold and Ember Fold were painted as a set, the same size and palette with matching frames, but each stands on its own. $710 each, or $1,350 for the pair.
