“Clutch” is a handmade guitar sculpture inspired by the classic Gretch Falcon. It’s built entirely from scrap metal and found parts, giving new life to old materials. The piece combines the look of a high-end instrument with the raw edge of industrial design, blending music and mechanics into a work of art.
The guitar body is composed of transmission parts, wrenches, brackets, lug nuts, Master locks, washers, and plumbing hardware—each component selected for its texture, shape, and character. The headstock is crowned with a timing chain and the neck adorned with nails used as frets, while the strings are fashioned from a variety of wire types. The pickguard is cut from a transmission valve body gasket, and a large serving spoon is reimagined into a whammy bar.
Accompanying the guitar is a custom stand, sculpted from rebar, spark plugs, and a flex plate. More than a base, the stand is a kinetic artwork in itself, capable of swiveling a full 360 degrees, allowing for interactive engagement and full visual appreciation from every angle.
Completing the trifecta is a retro style amplifier. An old hanging heater with internal elements removed was used as a housing. Adorned with a textured front and retro-styled buttons. A Bluetooth speaker is strategically hidden inside. The amp brings “Clutch” to life, playing classic guitar hits directly from a mobile device.
This piece is both a visual statement and a conversation starter—functional, musical, and industrial—equally at home in a living room, studio, or gallery space.
