BENT Side Table by Donatas Zukauskas
A sculptural stone side table defined by its arched leg structure — a form that is at once archaic and entirely contemporary. The silhouette is elemental and bold, but the surface tells a more nuanced story: raw, geological, tactile. More than a surface for placing objects, this is a functional sculpture that effortlessly becomes a focal point within a room.
The material is developed through years of personal experimentation: recycled paper pulp and cardboard — the second life of wood — combined with organic cement, binders, and paint to produce a composite that looks like cast stone but behaves differently. It is lighter than real concrete, slightly elastic rather than brittle, and sealed for long-term indoor durability. Donatas calls it the third life of wood: a material given entirely new properties through process.
Rather than concealing the marks of making, the BENT table wears them as character. Cracks, surface shifts, and unpredictable variation are built into the design — evidence of a hand at work and a material allowed to speak. Imperfection as a way to create beauty.
Each piece is handmade and unique — minor variations in texture and form are intentional and part of the design. Made-to-order. Custom dimensions available on request. Trade pricing available. Ships internationally. Lead time 4–8 weeks.
Designed, crafted and built by Donatas Zukauskas — a Lithuanian sculptor and designer whose furniture sits at the intersection of brutalist materiality and quiet, considered form.
