MONOLITH I Vase by Donatas Zukauskas

A large sculptural floor vase with a stacked, disc-like form and the dense material presence of cast stone. MONOLITH I is one of the most volumetrically substantial pieces in the collection — at 66 cm tall and 9 kg, it has the physical authority to define a corner, anchor a room, or stand as a primary design object in a curated interior. In black and dark grey composite, the surface reads as almost geological: layered, heavy, ancient.

The composite is built up by hand, layer by layer, with each application responding differently to drying conditions, pressure, and the natural behaviour of the material. The ratio of recycled paper pulp, organic cement, and mineral binder was refined through extensive testing — the goal being a surface that is simultaneously water-resistant, impact-resistant, and alive with geological texture. No two results are ever identical.

Rather than concealing natural variation, this design embraces it. Cracks, surface shifts, and unpredictable texture are not flaws — they are the point. Imperfection as a way to create beauty.

Each piece is handmade and unique — minor variations in texture and form are intentional and part of the design. Made-to-order. Custom finishes and dimensions available on request. Trade pricing available. Ships internationally. Lead time 4–8 weeks.

Designed, crafted and built by Donatas Zukauskas — a Lithuanian sculptor and designer with over 15 years of experience creating handmade sculptural objects that sit at the boundary between functional design and autonomous art.

Sculptural furniture and interior objects for residential and hospitality projects. Trade pricing and custom commissions available for interior designers and architects.

“Imperfection as a way to create beauty” defines my work. Cracks, splits, and unpredictable textures are intentionally embraced and shaped into expressive, sculptural forms.

I am an interior designer and creator based in Lithuania, with over 15 years of experience. I work with a unique concrete-like material made primarily from paper pulp — strong like wood, visually similar to concrete, and slightly elastic, allowing for durable yet organic surfaces.

My works are featured in private interiors across the USA, UK, Australia, and France, including hospitality projects such as the Sheraton Hotel in Doha, Qatar.
