LAMKAT

Brooklyn, NY

LAMKAT is a multi-disciplinary artist specializing in abstract geometric designs in both large and small format media. Through the use of layering, precise geometry and the suggestion of visual movement, her work is greatly influenced by the depth and perspective needed to live a full and vibrant life.

At a young age, she discovered a deep respect and understanding of the power of perception. Kat expresses this understanding by utilizing items and information often designed to be useful or practical rather than attractive (such as hand tools and mathematics) and creating dynamic, abstract artworks with them. Her large format murals are created using utility tools and a bright and light perspective on creation.

Her work can be found internationally across the United States, Canada, Australia, Poland, and Colombia. She currently resides in Brooklyn, New York.

Q&A

What do you want people to do or feel when they encounter your creations?

"Honestly, I want people to feel whatever they want. A large part of why I paint is for the sheer love of the process. Once I'm done with a project, I'm ready to see what else is out there."

Q&A

What makes a space special?

"It's a 3D blank canvas full of so many opportunities. I love working with an entire space and really taking everything it has to offer into consideration. Walls are great, but I love painting on floors, ceilings and other surfaces that are often ignored."

What funny moments, unexpected surprises, or obstacles have you encountered?
