This maple vase was turned while the wood was still wet, and dried after being hollowed out, which allowed the walls to collapse and warp into an expression of the tensions that the tree contained while it was alive.
A hole was punched through the bottom in the process of making this piece, but it does not have a major effect on its structural integrity.
Finished food safe. I recommend dry foods and wiping with a dry cloth to clean.
6” x 3.5” made from maple wood and finished with Tung oil and beeswax.
This wood was recovered from my parents yard after the tree was hit by lightning.
