The Wildrose Candle Holder is a hand-carved wood and marble collectible object from the Melting Collection by Gabor Gobi. Reclaimed pine and white marble remnants meet in a form suspended between growth and stillness — the stone threading through charred wood as though arrested mid-motion, the candle positioned at the point of their convergence.
Each piece begins with sourcing — salvaged beam wood, marble remnants, materials already shaped by prior existence. The wood is treated using Yakisugi, the traditional Japanese charring technique, before being dressed with natural oils and sealed in beeswax. Nothing synthetic enters at any stage. Cork protects the base and the surfaces beneath it.
The surface holds its own tension: near-black charred wood met by drifting fragments of white or pale rose marble, appearing to fuse under slow geological force. Sealed, the surface takes on a depth that shifts with the quality of light.
Best placed where texture and material weight anchor a room. Cork-lined base. One of a kind — each Wildrose differs in form.
